One
day I was walking from one
sightseeing to another in Beijing. A Chinese boy walked
besides me. He was cutting my profile with a scissors.
We did not stop - we kept walking - rather quickly.
Then the Chinese boy stopped me and he showed me the cut.
I was amazed.
I of course bought the cut.
This motif is inspired by that walk in Beijing.
I still don't understand, that the boy could do my silhouette so
precise, so quick - walking fast.
My visit to Beijing was shortly after the events in Tiananmen Square.
I was one of the fist people visiting China after these events.

In 2005,
the most well known Dane in the world, author Hans Christian
Andersen, would have been 200 years old. The anniversary is being
celebrated with a huge cultural year devoted to Andersen, both in
Denmark and worldwide. China will
feature prominently in the worldwide celebration of the bicentenary of
the birth of Hans Christian Andersen in 2005. Danish Prime Minister,
who was conducting an official visit to China in February 2004,
appointed seven of the most prominent personalities in China within the
fields of arts, sport and entertainment as Hans Christian Andersen
Ambassadors, whose task will be to promote the wider awareness and
appreciation of Hans Christian Andersen in China. The seven Chinese
Hans Christian Andersen Ambassadors are: senior translator Lin Hua,
cultural producer Wang Wen Zhang, actor Zhang Jinlai, television
hostess Ju Ping,
singer Song
Zuying, musician Sun Yan and athlete Yao Ming.

Outside the Wild Goose Pagoda in Xian I had this experience of
being a foreigner.
Having another cultural background. Meeting people with another
cultural background.
Jakob - my youngest son - was 10 years of age. His hear was blond. Crew
cut.
I was big. With a red blond bird.
The Chinese crowded around us. Friendly. Smiling. With their bike.
They wanted to touch Jakob.
Exactly at that moment somebody told me what Chinese people
thought about our traveling in China:
"Why don't they stay home and spare the money - and buy a bike.
Or a refrigerator?"
I have put an extra store or more on the
Chinese buildings
The Chinese are closer to divinity
