We hereby announce the logo and poster motif to the musical "The Swineherd". ![]() One of those are the Hans Christian Andersen Festival Plays in the Village of Funen in Odense. Every year a group of children performs a musical based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales. In 2006 the fairy tale is "The Swineherd". We hereby announce the logo and poster motif to this year's musical. Made by Asbjorn Lonvig - as usual. "Completely Excellent", Chairman of the Hans Christian Andersen Festival Plays, Jorn Erik Schreiner said about the logo. See the Swineherd, two of his pigs. See the ladies-in-waiting behind the fence. A lady-in-waiting is checking all the fuss through a hole in the fence. And it might be the emperor to the right behind the fence? Or, is it the princess? |
![]() Readers of my latest Art News Artblog have asked me to write about how I got a relatively good presence on the internet. Yesterday's statistics: 150,000 hits on Google.com and 100,000 hits on Yahoo.com on the search term "lonvig" and 64,708 hits and 1,176,552,123 bytes transferred per day on my web site www.lonvig.dk. John Wooton: As you know, every year is always rocked by a plethora of changes in the search engine marketing world. The acquisition of smaller companies by the Big 3 changes the marketing landscape as we know it every month and with every update to the index that is made, we hold our breath and hope that we come out better (if not, the same) in the end. So when it comes to the new year, there are many things that we should look out for to stay on top of the rankings. 1. Quality Content: I say this so often and I cannot overemphasize this enough: Content is KING! Search engine spiders, crawl the net to find what? Content! Your site has information (hopefully) that you want the spiders to see and include in their index. By the creation and publication of quality content, you give the search engines more reason to return. You are feeding them what they want. In 2006, you should be finding creative ways to get your content noticed and viewed as well as finding creative ways to publish fresh content on a regular basis. A very good way this is done is through the use of message boards (hosted on your site) and by blogs (enabling you to publish more frequently). Asbjorn Lonvig: Tell a story. Every time I enter something on the internet, on my own website or another web site like an online gallery I tell a story. Like what Jose Dali said about my fairy tale character Crab-Mac-Claw or Alice Garibaldi's view of my computer drafts of sculptures in Rome. For search engine optimization and submission to selected search engines I use the software IBP Internet Business Promoter by Axandra, Germany. For check of meta tags I use the free Meta Tag Analyzer from Submitexpress.com. This is to ensure 100 % title relevancy to page content, 100 % description relevancy to page content and 100 % keyword relevancy to page content. Don't focus on your web main page (index page) - focus on every page, only 1.56 % of my visitors enter through the web main page. __________________ John Wooton: 2. Don't Overextend Your Link Exchange Structure: Backlinks were a popular way to increase your rankings fast in the search engines. The tradition holds: find a PR7 website and trade backlinks and you'll be indexed in Google within 24 hours. That strategy still holds true and is beneficial for new web sites. But in my opinion the days of tremendous link swapping are coming to an end. Many website have been founded with the purpose of allowing you to exchange links with other web sites. This has caused a massive influx of web masters who want to exchange a ton of links with the hope that it will help them in the search engines. But what really matters when it comes to links is the amount of quality one way backlinks that direct users to your website. You want the balance of links to be in your favor, that is what leads to success. Also, there has
been talk of search engines taking notice of these "link farms" and
penalizing those who take part in them. So if you do take part in link
exchanges, please be moderate in respect to the number of exchanges you
take part in.
John Wooton: 3. RSS and XML: Two new technologies that have begun to take center stage especially in 2005 include a programming language that has been around for several years called XML. XML is short for extensible markup language and is a derivative from HTML. The main difference is your ability to create descriptive tags for your data. This has led to the advent of RSS or real simple syndication. RSS is a way for you to publish your data to an XML file hosted on your site. Users subscribe to your RSS feed via the XML file and whenever you make a changes to your XML file they are notified. It's become a major technology used by news agencies and bloggers alike as a simple method of publishing your information across a wide variety of platforms. XML has also proved useful with the Google Site
maps program, newly released in 2005. The optional tags available with
the XML site map allow you to be descriptive about the individual pages
on your site including dates the individual pages were modified. There
are some small things you need to pay attention to when creating this:
namely you have to follow the Google xml schema, and you have to be
diligent about tracking and fixing errors in the code. But if used
correctly, it is a great way to help Google index the hidden pages of
your website due to javascript or flash.
![]() I have made an RSS to all main pages on my web site and an RSS to every online gallery. I use the FeedForAll RSS feed creation tool to built my own RSSs. This way I have built 73 "hand made" RSSs. I use the following blogging systems for posting a lot of news and for automatic building of RSSs, ATOM feeds and RDFs: Blogger.com, Blogger.dk, Blog.com, Bloglines.com, Spaces.msn.com, Squarespace.com, Angelfire.com and Artday.org. Artday.org is Japanese. It is from Tokyo. And so is the image to the left. It's the Tokyo skyline with Tokyo Tower. The title is "Tokyo Moonlight". All of the above RSSs, ATOM feeds and RDFs - both my own "hand made" RSSs and the RSSs, ATOM feeds and RDFs generated automatically by blogging systems - are submitted to selected directories and search engines with the software RSS FEEDS Submit from rssfeedssubmit.com - if you need an introduction to RSS news feeds, you'll find it on rssfeedssubmit.com. I have built
one site map in English and one in Danish. ___________________ John Wooton: 4. Stay away from Flash and Javascript for the time being: Flash and Javascript are very powerful tools for creating dynamic and eye catching web sites. The most prominent problem with the two technologies is that the spiders can't index through them (at least not yet). This limits your ability to have the search engines index portions of your site. Many have speculated that the Big 3 are working on solving this problem, but for the time being, avoid or limit your use of these technologies. 5. Avoid Unethical SEO: There are a lot of
programs out there that help you to achieve maximum link back ratios in
a very short amount of time. Some of them are good; some are bad. In
fact, some of them will waste your effort trying to post trivial
comments on blogs or trying to maximize your link exchanges. In my
opinion, you should seek success in SEM the right, ethical way. Seek
out honest web companies to exchange a moderate amount of links with.
Post only relevant comments to forums and blogs because that behavior
leads to lasting link backs. Also, don't try to manipulate your website
to make it appear to have a higher PR than you really do. Google sees
that one! Asbjorn Lonvig:I stay away from Flash and..... I stay away from unethical SEO. _____________________
John Wooton: 6. Last, but not least, Articles: There is a little bit of controversial talk about whether it is right to post articles for free use in directories. In my opinion, you are providing a well needed service to web masters and I don't see this one as a potential loss for 2006. Information is valuable. And web sites that need content (especially fresh content) desire what you do to make their efforts a success. So it is natural for your web site rankings to benefit through backlinks from those articles. It's a win win situation. One other thought on this subject. Right now, the search engines can punish web sites for having duplicate content, and that is an argument that many will propose. But, the search engines will usually only punish you if the html format of a web site is similar, not a couple of articles. So posting articles is safe for now. But be cautious. Many lucrative methods of ethical SEO can be turned into a problem when too many people attempt to abuse the technology. So that's it. Short, but informative. SEO is both an
art
and a
technology that we have to use correctly for the right type of success.
Who knows what the year ahead may bring, but playing your cards right,
you can achieve success and avoid any pitfalls that may come.
To keep track of the effect of my efforts to have a
relatively
good internet presence I use a server based statistic system on my web
hotel called InSite.

Appointed
member of International Society of Artists and Designers by
The ARTROM GALLERY GUILD in Rome, Italy. ![]() www.artromgallery.com The purpose of THE GUILD is: - showcase and promote outstanding artists and designers through the strong online presence of ARTROM Gallery worldwide. - to provide a support system for the advancement of those who demonstrate a passion and dedication for their chosen field of interest. Dear Asbjorn Lonvig, The Staff at ARTROM Gallery has met to view
your images.
We have also
visited your website and entered immediately into your world.
We are impressed with your ability to
simplify a concept into an image and concentrate it,
to include only what is necessary. In evaluating your work for its strong graphic content, we became aware of the size of the originals; they are all quite large and are acrylic on canvas. In viewing your works we discussed not only
their graphic content, but discussed them as paintings, as objects unto
themselves. Knowing that the images exist somewhere as
objects of that dimension is far different than looking at images
stored in some computer, regardless of how they were
created. One can appreciate the graphic illustrative/informative
quality of an image on a computer screen, but it stops there, until
you know more about the image as it exists in "real
life", and this adds another dimension to the work. It also
adds credibility to the commitment the artist has made to the image.
We feel that you believe in your commitment as an artist. This is one of the aspects we look for in our GUILD Members. When one believes in himself the message is clear. We are also interested in your

(Another neat trick: take the "h" in earth and put it up front and what do you get? Heart! Art's gotta have heart! Art's in our hearts?) The creators of artday, the artday network, are dedicated to democratic principles and faithfully ignore all differences in age, sex, race, religion and nationality. Bridging

at Avenue des Peintres in Paris The painting "Bridging Europe" (to the right) is acrylic on canvas, 139 x 201 cm - that is 54.8 x 79.2 inches. It was inspired by the recent election into the European Parliament situated in Brussels and Strasbourg. I have my own unique style of simple shapes and bright colors. I call it "Colorful Zen Simplicity". "Zen" because when I am extremely lucky I might achieve a "Simplicity" near divinity. The online gallery Avenue des Peintres, 17, rue Joubert, 75009 PARIS by Stéphane Soulmana exhibits a selection of 13 paintings. At the far right you can see thumbnails of "che guevara", "grand maitre", "champs elysee", "philosophy of life - blue" and "mediterranean seashore". Read more. |

I am drafting the main characters in my Inuit fairy tales. I am studying the characteristics and transform them into my style. Crossing culture boundaries is visiting another world with other values and taboos. I must respect that - do I offend any Inuits by my drafts? - please tell me. I have contacted ICC - the Inuit Circumpolar Committee - and asked that exact question. |

Australia I
was
invited by Peter Alexandroff, Noosa Gallery,
Queensland - the Australian East cost - to a review for exhibiting at 10 WORLD
ARTISTS SHOW 2005 in Noosa in Queensland,
Australia.Inspired by this I made "Noosa Queensland Exclusive Selection". The painting "kangaroo - blue" (to the left) is acrylic on canvas, 139 x 201 cm - that is 54.8 x 79.2 inches. Inspired from visiting a kangaroo farm south of Canberra. And a road sign. I was in Australia. We flew from Denmark to Bangkok. Bangkok to Singapore. Singapore to Sydney. By Quantas. By bus from Sydney to Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide. I flew to Alice Springs and Cairns. And collected a lot of motifs. The kangaroo, of course. The colorful fish in Great Barrier Reef. Daintree Forest. The koalas. The penguins on Philip Island. The Sydney Opera House etc. I was very impressed by the Australian Native Art. Earthen colors. Therefore every single motif in "Noosa Queensland Exclusive Selection" has been transformed into Australian Native Art earthen colors, too. Read more. |
The man behind Noosa Gallery Peter Alexandroff is the man
behind Noosa Gallery. He is born in the first half of the 20th century. The sirname Alexandroff witnesses about a colorful past. I will investigate that past and tell about it lateron. Peter is a very deep and very symbolic painter himself. I have found my favorite because I am fascinated by the shapes and colors - the title is "drowning". Take your time looking at Peters paintings. You might be scared, but stay there for a while after all!! Peters own paintings at Noosa Gallery. Peter has built "The 10 World Artists Show 2005" and I became as Peter e-mailed to me "first cab of the rank". |

The Memphis TN based web site Internet4classrooms.com has ranked the fairy tales as number one in the category "General foreign language resources". The result is heavy use of the fairy tales by Internet4classroom.com's users. SitesForTeachers.com in Tucson, AZ, which is a list of the best teacher's resource and educational sites on the net and DayCareResource.com, that focus on preschoolers and kindergarteners in all US states use the LUCCA-project every day. | Danish Industry Regional Initiative Price
2004 in Vejle County to Easy Food Over the years I have made an art work to the price winning company Danish Industry is a union af all Danish industrial companies. Every year a price is given to a company that has shown outstanding initiative over the years. It is called The Regional Initiative Price - Vejle County. I visit the company to seek inspiration. This year I had a very fruitful meeting with the CEO Flemming Paarch. There were many interesting issues. For instance Easy Food makes bread to McDonald's. Easy Food has very strict hygiene security precautions in the factory. But what I found most interesting was Easy Food's HR policy. "Diversity
is
our
strength".
I knew at once I had to make a puzzle. If you want further information about the symbolism, please ask. The price was handed over to CEO Flemming Paarch by chairman of the board in Danish Industry, Svend Haargaard at a celebration in the factory 28 October 2004. Everybody praised the puzzle and the symbolism behind the puzzle. "Bulls Eye", the CEO said. Contact me. |

Huge Scandal
has
struck the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 celebrations. Danes are fed up with 2005 and Hans Christian Andersen. No Danes are participating in the celebration activities. A huge scandal has struck the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation. The scandal has been front page news for several days recently. Due to a not profitable Grand Opening on the 2nd of April 2005, where it was found out that Tina Turner was hired as a last minute stand in for a substantial amount of money, about which the members of the board of the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation had no knowledge. The chairman of the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation, Mayor of Odense, Anker Boye, decided to resign on 30 May 2005. And. Secretary General Lars Seeberg has resigned as Secretary General after mutual agreement! There will be implemented a 5.8 million DKK cutback on projects. The cutbacks will affect about 20 projects. There will equally be implemented a 3.8 million DKK cutback on administration and marketing. What a nice start! Read the message from the Board. _____________________________ |

Portrait
of
ConfuciusAsbjorn Lonvig's words: The portrait "Confucius" is inspired by a sculpture, not the sculpture in Qufuthat is “the official likeness“ of Confucius. There are of course no pictures showing what he looked like 500 BCE, but I found a sculpture that expressed his ideas. Confucius, 551 BCE - 479 BCE, was a Chinese thinker and philosopher, whose teachings and philosophy have deeply influenced thought and life of the far East. His philosophy emphasized morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity. These values gained prominence in China over Taoism during the Han Dynasty (206 BC–220 AD). Confucius' thoughts shortly is called Confucianism. It was introduced to Europe by the Jesuit Matteo Ricci, who Latinate his name as "Confucius." His teachings may be found in the Analects of Confucius, a collection of "brief aphoristic fragments", which was compiled many years after his death. Some of Confucius' quotes: "Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it." "Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses." “Ignorance is the night of the mind, but a night without moon and star." "It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop." "Men's natures are alike, it is their habits that carry them far apart." "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we do." "Respect yourself and others will respect you." "Study the past if you would define the future." A
sculpture of Confucius (to the right) was unveiled 2006
by
the China Confucius Foundation in Qufu, east China’s
Shandong province. It was meant to be the "official likeness" of
Confucius. In my opinion this portrait/sculpture has no resemblance to Confucius at all and never could represent his philosophy what soever. This man expresses arrogance, self insufficiency, narrow mindedness etc. He is old and he looks ill. No, it is not Confucius. That's why
the point of departure for my work
is another statue. A stature (to the left) that matches the way I
percept the whole Confucius. This Confucius is expresses humility, all-embracing warmheartedness, superiority, wisdom etc. He is old but well. Wikipedia words: Confucius (551 BC – 479 BC) was a Chinese thinker and social philosopher. His philosophy emphasized personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity. These values gained prominence in China over other doctrines, such as Legalism or Taoism during the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD). Confucius' thoughts have been developed into a system of philosophy known as Confucianism. It was introduced to Europe by the Italian Jesuit Matteo Ricci, who was the first to Latinate the name as "Confucius". His teachings may be found in the Analects of Confucius, a collection of "brief aphoristic fragments", which was compiled many years after his death. For nearly 2,000 years he was thought to be the editor or author of all the Five Classics such as the Classic of Rites (editor), and the Spring and Autumn Annals (author). When he was 20 years old Confucius married a young woman who was from the Qiguan family of the Song state. Though he had a mild tempered wife who loved him, he left his family to strive for his ideals. Confucius sought to revive the perfect virtue of Huaxia (Chinese civilization) and the classical properties of the Western Zhou Dynasty to build a great, harmonious and humanistic society. |

| PEOPLE AT WWAR.COM Markus Kruse, President and Founder After a decade of national and
international curatorial and gallery activities Markus Kruse discovered
the impact of the early World Wide Web:
"When I first started to work with the Internet in 1993, I was struck by the lack of visual art within that medium. So, I started collecting a few art links and began publishing my curated exhibitions on the early www as part of any exhibition program. All of a sudden national exhibitions were propelled into an international arena. Some retrospective exhibitions such as 'Roy-Lichtenstein Pre-Pop' actually had more visitors from via the web. I began to understand the impact and importance of the globalization of the visual arts via this medium. I guess it started snowballing from there... I love the ever changing nature and challenges of this type of work." The gray nuances and black and white is placed on a white or a black background. That's the Colorful Zen Simplicity Portrait Painting Concept. The Colorful Zen Simplicity Portrait Painting Dogma if you like. The concept is developed by my son Morten Lonvig. To make it simple you might call it Morten's Dogma. Use of other colors for instance blue and red is possible - but high aesthetic caution is recommended. This is the procedure: A digital image is made of the person who's portrait is to be painted. I'll make the portrait ready for painting so that the customer can see exactly how the painted result will be - including placement, size, colors, posterizing, brightness adjustment, contrast adjustment etc. etc. _____________ Sold to a customer in Murcia in Spain

the waterworks How was it made? At first I have to do some research. And have an idea. I ride my bike the same tour every day. It takes an hour or an hour and a half depending on the weather, my legs etc. My tour goes through the huge metallic sculpture symbolizing two giant Hs in Hedensted. I ride the tour despite of rain and storm. One day I got the idea, it had to be the chemical formula of water: H2O The two H's in the sculpture refers to the city of Hedensted: H2 And the fresh air and all the oxygen I need on my rides gives the: O I make a draft in my head – that's why I always work in simple shapes – and then I draw it on my computer , when I return home. I send an e-mail pointing to a web page with the drawing to the customer and ask if that's it? If it is, I do the original. In this case it is a 80 x 80 cm collage. In other cases it might be a painting, a sculpture, a....... For collages I have preprinted silk screen printed paper in red, yellow, green and blue. I have white and black, too. Every single color is cut out and mounted on the collage. During this process I make corrections to the motif. When
