About Art Critic Joan Lluís Montané's critic on
Asbjorn Lonvig's
art work
in Buenos Aires

Translated by Inter-Set from Spanish into English

Asbjorn Lonvig demonstrates a clear predominance towards a geometrical approach,
using flat contrasted colours, emphasising perceptions which come close to being pop art.
The oeuvre of the well-known Danish artist involves symbols, icons of a society dominated by images,
decontextualising them, inserting them in other compositions in which their freshness and dynamism are emphasised.
He produces formal assemblies in which sensitive ideas, infantile allegories or non-hurtful subjects, predominate,
seeking in the style of Miró an evocative approach little-by-little shaping a world of great sensitivity which captivates the observer
with an attractive warmth in spite of its initial lack of emotion.
His contribution to painting extends further than the field of composition, cultivating form,
fostering the passionate use of colour in order to endow his painting with suggestive features which go beyond the limits of the subjects themselves.

He communicates irony, gives expression to immense innate curiosity connected with his tendency to experimentation,
but always subordinating it to compositional organisation, seeking a clear dialogue between form, colour, balance and tonal expressiveness.

We hope, however, for business as usual...

We hereby announce the logo and poster motif to the musical "The Swineherd".

We hope the scandal concerning the Hans Christian Andersen celebrations 2005 will not damage the traditional well known year to year Hans Christian Andersen activities.
One of those are the Hans Christian Andersen Festival Plays in the Village of Funen in Odense.
Every year a group of children performs a musical based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales.
In 2006 the fairy tale is "The Swineherd".
We hereby announce the logo and poster motif to this year's musical.
Made by Asbjorn Lonvig - as usual.

"Completely Excellent", Chairman of the Hans Christian Andersen Festival Plays, Jorn Erik Schreiner said about the logo.
See the Swineherd, two of his pigs. See the ladies-in-waiting behind the fence. A lady-in-waiting is checking all the fuss through a hole in the fence. And it might be the emperor to the right behind the fence? Or, is it the princess?

Search Engine Strategies for Success
by John Wooton, Author and Creator, The SEO Journal Blog  and Asbjorn Lonvig.

Readers of my latest Art News Artblog have asked me to write about how I got a relatively good presence on the internet.
Yesterday's statistics:
150,000 hits on Google.com and 100,000 hits on Yahoo.com on the search term "lonvig"
and 64,708 hits and 1,176,552,123 bytes transferred per day on my web site www.lonvig.dk.

John Wooton:

As you know, every year is always rocked by a plethora of changes in the search engine marketing world. The acquisition of smaller companies by the Big 3 changes the marketing landscape as we know it every month and with every update to the index that is made, we hold our breath and hope that we come out better (if not, the same) in the end. So when it comes to the new year, there are many things that we should look out for to stay on top of the rankings.

1. Quality Content: I say this so often and I cannot overemphasize this enough: Content is KING! Search engine spiders, crawl the net to find what? Content! Your site has information (hopefully) that you want the spiders to see and include in their index. By the creation and publication of quality content, you give the search engines more reason to return. You are feeding them what they want. In 2006, you should be finding creative ways to get your content noticed and viewed as well as finding creative ways to publish fresh content on a regular basis. A very good way this is done is through the use of message boards (hosted on your site) and by blogs (enabling you to publish more frequently).

Asbjorn Lonvig:

Tell a story.
Every time I enter something on the internet, on my own website or another web site like an online gallery I tell a story. Like what Jose Dali said about my fairy tale character Crab-Mac-Claw or Alice Garibaldi's view of my computer drafts of sculptures in Rome.
For search engine optimization and submission to selected search engines I use the software IBP Internet Business Promoter by Axandra, Germany.  For check of meta tags I use the free Meta Tag Analyzer from  Submitexpress.com. This is to ensure 100 % title relevancy to page content, 100 % description relevancy to page content and 100 % keyword relevancy to page content.

Don't focus on your web main page
(index page) - focus on every page,
only 1.56 % of my visitors enter through
the web main page.

2. Don't Overextend Your Link Exchange Structure: Backlinks were a popular way to increase your rankings fast in the search engines. The tradition holds: find a PR7 website and trade backlinks and you'll be indexed in Google within 24 hours. That strategy still holds true and is beneficial for new web sites.

But in my opinion the days of tremendous link swapping are coming to an end. Many website have been founded with the purpose of allowing you to exchange links with other web sites. This has caused a massive influx of web masters who want to exchange a ton of links with the hope that it will help them in the search engines.

But what really matters when it comes to links is the amount of quality one way backlinks that direct users to your website. You want the balance of links to be in your favor, that is what leads to success.

Also, there has been talk of search engines taking notice of these "link farms" and penalizing those who take part in them. So if you do take part in link exchanges, please be moderate in respect to the number of exchanges you take part in.

Asbjorn Lonvig:

I do not concentrate upon links any more. I only make links that are relevant to my content. If I am asked to link to a Kangaroo farm in Canberra, New South Wales, Australia, I sure will do it.
Now and then I run a Link Popularity Check on my online galleries to check their degree of presence on the internet. The Link Popularity Check program is free and it is from Axandra, Germany. Absolutearts.com has the highest link popularity of all online galleries.

3. RSS and XML: Two new technologies that have begun to take center stage especially in 2005 include a programming language that has been around for several years called XML. XML is short for extensible markup language and is a derivative from HTML. The main difference is your ability to create descriptive tags for your data.

This has led to the advent of RSS or real simple syndication. RSS is a way for you to publish your data to an XML file hosted on your site. Users subscribe to your RSS feed via the XML file and whenever you make a changes to your XML file they are notified. It's become a major technology used by news agencies and bloggers alike as a simple method of publishing your information across a wide variety of platforms.

XML has also proved useful with the Google Site maps program, newly released in 2005. The optional tags available with the XML site map allow you to be descriptive about the individual pages on your site including dates the individual pages were modified. There are some small things you need to pay attention to when creating this: namely you have to follow the Google xml schema, and you have to be diligent about tracking and fixing errors in the code. But if used correctly, it is a great way to help Google index the hidden pages of your website due to javascript or flash.

Asbjorn Lonvig:

I have made an RSS to all main pages on my web site and an RSS to every online gallery.
I use the FeedForAll RSS feed creation tool to built my own RSSs. This way I have built 73 "hand made" RSSs.
I use the following blogging systems for posting a lot of news and for automatic building of RSSs, ATOM feeds and RDFs: Blogger.com, Blogger.dk, Blog.com, Bloglines.com, Spaces.msn.com, Squarespace.com, Angelfire.com and Artday.org.
Artday.org is Japanese. It is from Tokyo. And so is the image to the left. It's the Tokyo skyline with Tokyo Tower. The title is "Tokyo Moonlight".

All of the above RSSs, ATOM feeds and RDFs - both my own "hand made" RSSs and the RSSs, ATOM feeds and RDFs generated automatically by blogging systems - are submitted to selected directories and search engines with the software RSS FEEDS Submit from rssfeedssubmit.com - if you need an introduction to RSS news feeds, you'll find it on rssfeedssubmit.com.

I have built one site map in English and one in Danish.

4. Stay away from Flash and Javascript for the time being: Flash and Javascript are very powerful tools for creating dynamic and eye catching web sites. The most prominent problem with the two technologies is that the spiders can't index through them (at least not yet). This limits your ability to have the search engines index portions of your site. Many have speculated that the Big 3 are working on solving this problem, but for the time being, avoid or limit your use of these technologies.

5. Avoid Unethical SEO: There are a lot of programs out there that help you to achieve maximum link back ratios in a very short amount of time. Some of them are good; some are bad. In fact, some of them will waste your effort trying to post trivial comments on blogs or trying to maximize your link exchanges. In my opinion, you should seek success in SEM the right, ethical way. Seek out honest web companies to exchange a moderate amount of links with. Post only relevant comments to forums and blogs because that behavior leads to lasting link backs. Also, don't try to manipulate your website to make it appear to have a higher PR than you really do. Google sees that one!

Asbjorn Lonvig:

I  stay away from Flash and.....
I stay away from unethical SEO.

John Wooton:

6. Last, but not least, Articles: There is a little bit of controversial talk about whether it is right to post articles for free use in directories. In my opinion, you are providing a well needed service to web masters and I don't see this one as a potential loss for 2006. Information is valuable. And web sites that need content (especially fresh content) desire what you do to make their efforts a success. So it is natural for your web site rankings to benefit through backlinks from those articles. It's a win win situation.

One other thought on this subject. Right now, the search engines can punish web sites for having duplicate content, and that is an argument that many will propose. But, the search engines will usually only punish you if the html format of a web site is similar, not a couple of articles. So posting articles is safe for now.

But be cautious. Many lucrative methods of ethical SEO can be turned into a problem when too many people attempt to abuse the technology.

So that's it. Short, but informative. SEO is both an art and a technology that we have to use correctly for the right type of success. Who knows what the year ahead may bring, but playing your cards right, you can achieve success and avoid any pitfalls that may come.

Asbjorn Lonvig:

This Art News Artblog article is an example of Articles.
I write articles to as you know WWAR/Absolutearts, to Editorial Qroquis - a printed art magazine in Buenos Aires (translated into Spanish) and ADN World ArtNews in Tokyo. Furthermore my articles are published on selected RSSes of my own, on all the blogging systems mentioned above and on the online gallery ArtCad.com in Paris.

To keep track of the effect of my efforts to have a relatively good internet presence I use a server based statistic system on my web hotel called InSite.
I use Google Alerts to continuously inform me what new things of mine have been indexed.
Occasionally I check presence on Yahoo.com.
And then I check the online galleries.
January 2006 WWAR/Absolutearts topped with 73,000 hits followed by ArtWanted in Salt Lake City with 21,000 hits.  Other online galleries like Yessy.com in Denver Colorado had 17,000 hits and a new online galley in Paris - ArtPourTous - had reached 4000 visitors. "Grand Maitre" to the right - that is Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec - is of course exhibited in Paris.
I'm working hard to produce decent traffic on all online galleries.

Thoughts.
Your sales has nothing to do with your artistic talent, with your exhibition at Chicago Athenaeum or with nice words written about your art in a French book on "How to communicate through pictures".
It's all about your internet presence???

Thanks.
I want to thank John Wooton Author and Creator, The SEO Journal Blog for  permitting me to use his article "Search Engine Strategies for Success: 2006", which I read 5 January 2006 in Entireweb Newsletter.

Appointed member of International Society of Artists and Designers by
The ARTROM GALLERY GUILD in Rome, Italy.

www.artromgallery.com

The purpose of THE GUILD is:
- showcase and promote outstanding artists and designers through the strong online presence of ARTROM Gallery worldwide.
- to provide a support system for the advancement of those who demonstrate a passion and dedication for their chosen field of interest.

Dear Asbjorn Lonvig,

The Staff at ARTROM Gallery has met to view your images.
We have also visited your website and entered immediately into your world.
We are impressed with your ability to simplify a concept into an image and concentrate it,
to include only what is necessary. In evaluating your work for its strong graphic content, we  became aware of the size of the originals; they are all quite large and are acrylic on canvas.
In viewing your works we discussed not only their graphic content, but discussed them as paintings, as objects unto themselves. Knowing that the images exist somewhere as objects of that dimension is far different than looking at images stored in some computer, regardless of how they were created. One can appreciate the graphic illustrative/informative quality of an image on a computer screen, but it stops there, until you know more about the image as it exists in "real life", and this adds another dimension to the work. It also adds credibility to the commitment the artist has made to the image.

We feel that you believe in your commitment as an artist.
This is one of the aspects we look for in our GUILD Members.
When one believes in himself the message is clear.

We are also interested in your "Manifesto" below.

It's about the fact that the art market is predicted to grow 3,5 times because of the Internet.
It's about my decision to stake everything on the internet.
It's about concentrating my efforts on the internet when it comes to sales.
It's about my decision to make new standards and challenge art traditions by
making my drafts on a computer and exhibit the drafts.
And insist upon that a computer is nothing but a new tool.
And insist upon that using a computer is as worthy as not doing it!!!
Worthier????

We would like to help you accomplish these things, and welcome you to become a Member of ARTROM Gallery GUILD.

New exhibition in Boulder Denver Colorado

yessy.com

Yessy is a privately held corporation located in Boulder, Colorado and was founded by an artist for the purpose of providing a better way to buy and sell art.

We believe it is more important to assist and contribute to the art community rather than focusing on financial gain. It is this philosophy that keeps any fees low, provides genuine help to artists and art buyers, and builds trust and loyalty in the art community.

The name Yessy is a tribute to a fellow artist from Colombia, South America who will always be remembered for her integrity and inspiration.

New exhibition in Tokyo, Japan at Artday Network

artday.org the International site in English
jp.artday.org
the site in Japanese

Artday is a worldwide celebration of art scheduled to take place each year on the second day of July. Why July 2nd? Because it's at the very center of the year just as art is at the very center of the word "earth" as well as a central element in so many events in our lives. (Another neat trick: take the "h" in earth and put it up front and what do you get? Heart! Art's gotta have heart! Art's in our hearts?) The creators of artday, the artday network, are dedicated to democratic principles and faithfully ignore all differences in age, sex, race, religion and nationality. July 2 is off center in leap-years, so there are no artdays when February gets its extra day.
And.
Artday Network is among other things an online gallery with online exhibitions, there 2 of mine: Asbjorn Lonvig Gallery and For Children.
Artday Network has it's own World ArtNews for which I have become a columnist.
It too has
Artist Salon, art Blog, Art Classified Ads, Event Calendar, Competition Guide, Art Site Directory and ArtistsBlog Headlines.
Sure an interesting portal.

The man behind the 2 galleries is
Seiji Ueoka, who lives outside Tokyo and administers both the international site and the Japanese site.

Bridging Europe
at Avenue des Peintres in Paris

T
he painting "Bridging Europe" (to the right) is acrylic on canvas, 139 x 201 cm - that is 54.8 x 79.2 inches. It was inspired by the recent election into the European Parliament situated in Brussels and Strasbourg.  I have my own unique style of simple shapes and bright colors. I call it "Colorful Zen Simplicity". "Zen" because when I am extremely lucky I might achieve a "Simplicity" near divinity.

The online gallery Avenue des Peintres,
17, rue Joubert, 75009 PARIS by Stéphane Soulmana exhibits a selection of 13 paintings. At the far right you can see thumbnails of "che guevara", "grand maitre", "champs elysee", "philosophy of life - blue" and "mediterranean seashore".

1080 Haight Street
in San Francisco

The painting “1080 Haight Street” is acrylic on canvas, 201 x 139 cm – that is 79.2 x 54.8 inches. It was inspired by my two visits to San Francisco, having seen all the “painted ladies” of sorts, having seen Robin Williams portrayal of “Mrs. Doubtfire", and so much more!
Recently, I was contacted by Gallery-Worldwide about a link exchange on my website. Gallery-Worldwide maintains a website representing very famous contemporary artists and their original art. After e-mail communications, Luba Dein, Gallery-Worldwide’s CEO and I began to think there could be more to our relationship. In 1973 I developed a software program that interested IBM so much, they came all the way to Denmark to meet me and praise my work. Now I am returning with my work to Silicon Valley as an Artist.
I hope that once again my work will be “praised to the heavens” as it was so many years ago.  The Gallery-Worldwide selection contains a collection of my American, Canadian, Parisian and Mediterranean inspired paintings.

Blue Sky - New York

The painting "blue sky" is acrylic on canvas, 201 x 139 cm - that is 79.2 x 54.8 inches. It is inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpiece on Fifth Avenue. Guggenheim museum.
Amazing how Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture is contemporary.
In Chicago I saw several of his houses that looked as if they were built yesterday. One was from 1909. The very blue sky symbolizes divinity. Frank Lloyd Wright had a rare gift, sure. Divinity?
"blue sky" is part of a number of paintings inspired from New York. An art dealer from New York asked me to let me inspire from perception.

On happy days I have the guts and skills to do things extremely simple. There is something very special about those huge canvases, the bright colors  and those extremely simple shapes.
I was contacted by online gallery Backyard-Art.com  on Vancouver Island, Nanoose Bay covering British Columbia and Yukon. I was introduced me to the online magazine www.thebcwestcoast.com
run by David Dornian.
I remembered the British Columbia Westcoast from my visit there.

The LAURA-project

Inuit Circumpolar Area culture and especially Greenlandish culture as inspiration to fairy tales in children's books

The LAURA-project are fairy tales in children's books inspired by the Inuit Circumpolar Area culture especially the Greenlandish culture.
A similar project is the LUCCA-project. I illustrate in simple shapes and bright colors and I write in simple shapes and bright colors.
I'll write the online children's books in English and translate them myself into Danish.
A Native American will check my English.
The online children's books will furthermore be translated into Greenlandish, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Dutch, Greek and Russian.
Research of Inuit Circumpolar Area culture especially Greenlandish culture will last from 2004 to spring 2006. Starting 1 November 2004. I'll travel to Greenland in near future.
Illustration and writing of 3 - 5 fairy tales will take place spring 2006 and end 30 June 2006.

The first Inuit drafts
of main characters

The Inuits are the native inhabitants of the seacoasts of the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions of North America and the northeastern tip of Siberia. Their habitation area extends over four countries: the United States, Canada, Russia, and Greenland. Of the more than 90,000 Inuits in this region, the greater part live south of the Arctic Circle, with approximately 28,000 on the Aleutian Islands and in Alaska, 17,000 in Canada, 1,500 in Siberia, and 45,000 in Greenland.

I am drafting the main characters in my Inuit fairy tales. I am studying the characteristics and transform them into my style. Crossing culture boundaries is visiting another world with other values and taboos. I must respect that - do I offend any Inuits by my drafts? - please tell me.
I have contacted ICC - the Inuit Circumpolar Committee - and asked that exact question.

Shame on Mary, Peter Alexandroff wrote to me. He had seen Mary in an Australian TV interview. It was on ABC TV being interviewed by the famous journalist Andrew Denton on "Enough Rope". She came across rather well, he told me. Obviously she was not able to open this exhibition in Denmark at the same time.We had talked about that.
Noosa in Queensland Australia

I was invited by Peter Alexandroff, Noosa Gallery, Queensland - the Australian East cost - to a review for exhibiting at 10 WORLD ARTISTS SHOW 2005 in Noosa in Queensland, Australia.
Inspired by this I made "Noosa Queensland Exclusive Selection".
The painting "kangaroo - blue" (to the left) is acrylic on canvas, 139 x 201 cm - that is 54.8 x 79.2 inches. Inspired from visiting a kangaroo farm south of Canberra. And a road sign.
I was in Australia. We flew from Denmark to Bangkok. Bangkok to Singapore. Singapore to Sydney. By Quantas. By bus from Sydney to Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide. I flew to Alice Springs and Cairns.
And collected a lot of motifs. The kangaroo, of course. The colorful fish in Great Barrier Reef. Daintree Forest. The koalas. The penguins on Philip Island. The Sydney Opera House etc.
I was very impressed by the Australian Native Art. Earthen colors. Therefore every single motif in "Noosa Queensland Exclusive Selection" has been transformed into Australian Native Art earthen colors, too.

The man behind Noosa Gallery

Peter Alexandroff  is the man behind Noosa Gallery.
He is born in the first half of the 20th century.
The sirname Alexandroff witnesses about a colorful past. I will investigate that past and tell about it lateron.

Peter is a very deep and very symbolic painter himself. I have found my favorite because I am fascinated by the shapes and colors - the title is "drowning". Take your time looking at Peters paintings. You might be scared, but stay there for a while after all!! Peters own paintings at Noosa Gallery.

Peter has built "The 10 World
Artists Show 2005" and I became as Peter e-mailed to me
"first cab of the rank".

The LUCCA-project - short multicultural fairy tales to download and print

Octo-Pus and Crab-Mac-Claw are main characters in a number of fairy tales. The fairy tales are made to my grandchild Lucca and children all over the world. The keywords are mutual understanding through mutual inspiration. The fairy tales are translated into English, French, German, Italian, Chinese and Danish by human translators. The fairy tales are translated into Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, Greek, Russian and Dutch by computer translation. Besides children's books online there are coloring books, slide shows, mini-posters, T-shirt transfers etc.

In Hartford, Connecticut and in
Calusa Elementary School, Boca Raton in Florida they use the online children's books and the coloring books in school and preschool.
The Memphis TN based web site Internet4classrooms.com has ranked the fairy tales as number one in the category "General foreign language resources".  The result is heavy use of the fairy tales by Internet4classroom.com's users.
SitesForTeachers.com in Tucson, AZ, which is a list of the best teacher's resource and educational sites on the net and DayCareResource.com, that focus on preschoolers and kindergarteners in all US states use the LUCCA-project every day. The publisher Pumpkin House in Columbus, Ohio has the fairy tales on the main page. Children's Museums use the LUCCA-project, too.

And then
Cecelia Routsaw - Grandmother of 15 - form Greenville in Michigan wrote to me about my fairy tales:
I only have one word that best describes these books:  "Awesome".
Thanks so much for the FREE downloads, they are very much appreciated.

Danish Industry Regional Initiative Price 2004 in Vejle County to
Easy Food

Over the years I have made an art work to the price winning company

Danish Industry is a union af all Danish industrial companies.
Every year a price is given to a company that has shown outstanding initiative over the years.
It is called The Regional Initiative Price - Vejle County.

I visit the company to seek inspiration. This year I had a very fruitful meeting with the CEO Flemming Paarch.
There were many interesting issues.
For instance Easy Food makes bread to McDonald's.
Easy Food has very strict hygiene security precautions in the factory.
But what I found most interesting was Easy Food's HR policy.
"Diversity is our strength".
I knew at once I had to make a puzzle.
If you want further information about the symbolism, please ask.
The price was handed over to CEO Flemming Paarch by chairman of the board in Danish Industry, Svend Haargaard at a celebration in the factory 28 October 2004.
Everybody praised the puzzle and the symbolism behind  the puzzle.
"Bulls Eye", the CEO said.

Huge Scandal has struck the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 celebrations.

2005 has until this day - 13 June 2005 - not been "a huge cultural year devoted to Andersen, both in Denmark and worldwide".
Danes are fed up with 2005 and Hans Christian Andersen.
No Danes are participating in the celebration activities.
A huge scandal has struck the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation. The scandal has been front page news for several days recently.

Due to a not profitable Grand Opening on the 2nd of April 2005,

where it was found out that Tina Turner was hired as a last minute stand in for a substantial amount of money, about which the members of the board
of the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation had no knowledge.
The chairman of the Hans Christian Andersen 2005 Foundation, Mayor of Odense, Anker Boye, decided to resign on 30 May 2005.

And.
Secretary General Lars Seeberg has resigned as Secretary General after mutual agreement!
There will be implemented a 5.8 million DKK cutback on projects. The cutbacks will affect about 20 projects.
There will equally be implemented a 3.8 million DKK cutback on administration and marketing.

What a nice start!

Read the message from the Board.

Sculpture on Piazza San Pietro in Rome

In spectacular places I have erected huge metallic spectacular sculptures. As you might have seen the images are proposals.  I don't think  the  Romans want a huge metallic sculpture on the Spanish Stairs. Until now the only real huge metallic sculpture is erected on the motor way through my hometown, Hedensted.
What you buy from me is the idea, the drafts and my experience. The sculpture is built by the buyer, probably in the buyers city by local entrepreneurs.

Children's sculptures made as playground equipment

In this exhibition you see drafts of sculptures made for children's play. The sculptures are made for viewing, climbing, hiding, sitting, sliding etc. What you buy from me is the idea, the drafts and my experience. The sculpture is built by the buyer, probably in the buyers city by local entrepreneurs.
The construction of these sculptures must of course live up to the strictest safety standards for playground equipment.
If safety standards cannot be lived up to I'll alter the design.

Signs in different languages to be placed on streets where children play. In English (US), English (UK), in French, in Japanese, in Chinese, in Dutch, in German, in Spanish, In Danish, in Swedish, in Norwegian....
My French translator told me, that a little guy can't say HI to a grown up in France. A little guy must address grown ups more polite.
Like "Please be careful - please drive slowly, thank you".

Portrait of Confucius

Asbjorn Lonvig's words: The portrait "Confucius" is inspired by a sculpture, not the sculpture in Qufuthat is “the official likeness“ of Confucius. There are of course no pictures showing what he looked like 500 BCE, but I found a sculpture that expressed his ideas. Confucius, 551 BCE - 479 BCE, was a Chinese thinker and philosopher, whose teachings and philosophy have deeply influenced thought and life of the far East. His philosophy emphasized morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity. These values gained prominence in China over Taoism during the Han Dynasty (206 BC–220 AD). Confucius' thoughts shortly is called Confucianism. It was introduced to Europe by the Jesuit Matteo Ricci, who Latinate his name as "Confucius." His teachings may be found in the Analects of Confucius, a collection of "brief aphoristic fragments", which was compiled many years after his death.
Some of Confucius' quotes:
"Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it."
"Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses."
“Ignorance is the night of the mind, but a night without moon and star."
"It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop."
"Men's natures are alike, it is their habits that carry them far apart."
"Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we do."
"Respect yourself and others will respect you."
"Study the past if you would define the future."
A sculpture of Confucius (to the right) was unveiled 2006 by the China Confucius Foundation in Qufu, east China’s Shandong province. It was meant to be the "official likeness" of Confucius.
In my opinion this portrait/sculpture has no resemblance to Confucius at all and never could represent his philosophy what soever.
This man expresses arrogance, self insufficiency, narrow mindedness etc. He is old and he looks ill. No, it is not Confucius.

That's why the point of departure for my work is another statue. A stature (to the left) that matches the way I percept the whole Confucius.
This Confucius is expresses humility, all-embracing warmheartedness, superiority, wisdom etc. He is old but well.

Wikipedia words: Confucius (551 BC – 479 BC) was a Chinese thinker and social philosopher. His philosophy emphasized personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity. These values gained prominence in China over other doctrines, such as Legalism or Taoism during the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD).
Confucius' thoughts have been developed into a system of philosophy known as Confucianism. It was introduced to Europe by the Italian Jesuit Matteo Ricci, who was the first to Latinate the name as "Confucius". His teachings may be found in the Analects of Confucius, a collection of "brief aphoristic fragments", which was compiled many years after his death.
For nearly 2,000 years he was thought to be the editor or author of all the Five Classics such as the Classic of Rites (editor), and the Spring and Autumn Annals (author).
When he was 20 years old Confucius married a young woman who was from the Qiguan family of the Song state. Though he had a mild tempered wife who loved him, he left his family to strive for his ideals. Confucius sought to revive the perfect virtue of Huaxia (Chinese civilization) and the classical properties of the Western Zhou Dynasty to build a great, harmonious and humanistic society.

Mona.

One afternoon I wanted to draw a new sculpture to Louvre.

Aude Caumon from the Communication Department at Louvre did not like my first draft - neither did I. The new one became a Colorful Mona - "mona I".
I was so excited, I made 15 new motifs for sale as collages cut in silk-screen print paper - a unique product of mine.
The first time I was in Paris I was very inspired and made a picture of Mona. One of 4 motifs from Paris.

PEOPLE AT WWAR.COM
Markus Kruse, President
and Founder

After a decade of national and international curatorial and gallery activities Markus Kruse discovered the impact of the early World Wide Web:

"When I first started to work with the Internet in 1993, I was struck by the lack of visual art within that medium. So, I started collecting a few art links and began publishing my curated exhibitions on the early www as part of any exhibition program. All of a sudden national exhibitions were propelled into an international arena. Some retrospective exhibitions such as 'Roy-Lichtenstein Pre-Pop' actually had more visitors from via the web. I began to understand the impact and importance of the globalization of the visual arts via this medium. I guess it started snowballing from there... I love the ever changing nature and challenges of this type of work."

Markus' in-depth knowledge of the visual arts as well as his expertise in Internet activities bring together two areas that often cannot be found when taking a scrutinizing look at Internet based Arts companies.

Markus holds a B.A. in Art History from Wittenberg University, an M.A. in Arts Administration/Art Education and a Ph.D. in Art Education from The Ohio State University.

When not at work you can find Markus on the Outer Banks in North Carolina windsurfing, traveling back to his original hometown Berlin, Germany, or riding his R90, and often on a ladder restoring his over 110 year old house.

Exclusive Selection Indonesia
On 30 August 2004 Teguh Prasetyo Heruwaluyo, Jakarta, Indonesia and director
Torben Cornelius, commercial counsellor & coordinator, Denmark  visited me in
        Lille Fejringhus.

Shortly after Teguh Prasetyo Heruwaluyo had been picked up in the airport after a long flight from Jakarta  we had a meeting in Lille Fejringhus with the purpose  to plan a new series of 8 motifs Exclusive Selection Indonesia and other marketing initiatives in Indonesia. Storytelling? Fairy tales?
Indonesia is a huge country, you know Sumatra, Java, Bali, Borneo, New Guinea, Timor etc. There are approximately as many Indonesian as Europeans!  In Jakarta alone there are about 15 million inhabitants. In a couple of weeks I have been inspired to do 8 motifs and this website has been innovated to handle
Teguh Prasetyo Heruwaluyo's needs as an art dealer.
After a fruitful meeting I was informed about all cultural highlights of Indonesia.

And these are the keywords for the work:
1. Mother
  Mom and son
    Mom and daughter
   I love you mom
2. Religion
Jesus in my heart (believe in.....)
    You raise me up
   The true way
Christ and Good - Mohammed and Allah
3. Motivation
    Focus line
    Build the destiny for success
To wake up a great dream

My next step is to investigate Indonesia by means of the web, the local county library in Vejle, Library of Århus University - the State Library of Denmark, the Danish Embassy in Jakarta and the Indonesian Embassy in Copenhagen. The next meeting will take place soon
- the talks will continue while I make drafts.

New Dogma

Colorful Zen Simplicity
Portrait Painting Dogma

Colorful Zen Simplicity in portrait painting is the concept of extracting face shapes
and face shadows in gray nuances and black and white.
The gray nuances and black and white is placed on a white or a black background.
That's the Colorful Zen Simplicity Portrait Painting Concept.
The Colorful Zen Simplicity Portrait Painting Dogma if you like.
The concept is developed by my son Morten Lonvig.
To make it simple you might call it Morten's Dogma.
Use of other colors for instance blue and red is possible - but high aesthetic caution is recommended.
This is the procedure: A digital image is made of the person who's portrait is to be painted.
I'll make the portrait ready for painting so that the customer can see exactly how  the
painted result will be - including placement, size, colors, posterizing, brightness adjustment, contrast adjustment etc. etc.

New project about writing articles and other news to specific

In cooperation with CEO
Craig Cornwall from artistsrepublik.com I have developed a new project.
I build a blog with a logo for a certain client, I build it in www.blog.com, which generates RSS and
ATOM news feeds and in the right side of the blog I create a link and a description of the client - here artistsrepublik.com.

When the blog has been submitted to directories they are in many cases forwarded to search engines.
Single posts are often found via search engines.
Therefore I place the artistsrepublik.com's banner and link in the top of each post.
Like this:

This will generate a lot of traffic because of the great variety of words in the articles.
The more articles on different subjects, the more traffic is generated to artistsrepublik.com.
I'll post to the blog with articles and other news as often as I have agreed with the client.

Craig Cornwall ask me to do it whenever I have any relevant news.
Even if my articles often are controversial they of course must not

H2O from BG Bank to the waterworks
How was it made?

At first I have to do some research.
And have an idea.
I ride my bike the same tour every day.
It takes an hour or an hour and a half depending on the weather, my legs etc.
My tour goes through the huge metallic sculpture symbolizing two giant Hs in Hedensted.
I ride the tour despite of rain and storm.

One day I got the idea, it had to be the chemical formula of water: H2O
The two H's in the sculpture refers to the city of Hedensted: H2
And the fresh air and all the oxygen I need on my rides gives the: O

I make a draft in my head – that's why I always work in simple shapes –  and then I draw it on my computer , when I return home.
I send an e-mail pointing to a web page with the drawing to the customer and ask if that's it?

If it is, I do the original.
In this case it is a 80 x 80 cm collage.
In other cases it might be a painting, a sculpture, a.......
For collages I have preprinted silk screen printed paper in red, yellow, green and blue.
I have white and black, too.
Every single color is cut out and mounted on the collage.
During this process I make corrections to the motif.

When I am happy with the outcome, I sign the collage with my name
and year and write the title of the collage in the lower left corner.

I frame it, and now I have to stop,
I must deliver the collage to the bank this afternoon.
