Ten years ago or so, a French art magazine
- the world leader in art market information -
predicted that the art market would become 3.5 times
larger than the present market due to the internet. At
that time, I had worked with art in traditional ways
for several years. As well as being an artist,
designer, etc. I am a Software Engineer for IBM. On
the spot, I dropped traditional ways
and
started
using computer and Internet in as many contexts as
possible. All of my existing works were converted to
digital format and all new works were created
digitally. Now, I would only use online galleries for
exhibitions. I would only use traditional physical
exhibition in my studio and gallery.
During the first years people from all
over the world mocked me. I was surprised by the
hateful rhetoric. I tried to enter into a dialogue,
but nothing was to be
discussed.
Time passed by, and digital art started
to become nearly permissible. I was granted the World
Art Award for my work in
I now had
passed the
tipping point, Digital art was not dubious anymore; it
was now kind of trendy. Building
on Gutenberg However, I had one last huge problem; a
problem that I believe was caused by Johann Gutenberg
(1400-1468) from But since Gutenberg printing focused on
printing text, keywords minimized printing costs,
optimizing speed, minimizing inking - and overall
focus was on minimizing costs. To the artist, the
printing process has to do with pigmented inks, color
calibration, fade, and water resistance. Overall the
result must be a high quality print and most
important, sustainable.
After I participated in “2010
International Fine Art” in South Africa, where digital
artworks were printed on Hahnemühle paper using
pigment-based archival inks a new world opened up to
me as an artist. It was the first time I saw the
phrase “pigment-based archival inks” in a digital
environment. Now we might solve
“One last huge problem.” I had an idea to publish my best 325+
artworks and formulate ten dogmas to be fulfilled to
reach the goal “The World’s Best in Fine Art…Nothing
Less.” This, of course, is subjective - not
least because “The World’s Best” is a subjective
judgment. What is important to notice is, for the
first time - and I mean the first time - I was able to
print the exact colors that I wanted. Without
exception, any kind of printing has involved some kind
of conversion of the colors to another color-system. The
colors you use on your screen normally are RGB. In
order to print you must convert to CMYK, Pantone, or
some other system. Even if you make lithography, you
have to mix colors. Manufactured colors have
never revealed the true beauty of the artwork. Now I
can calibrate my monitor and my printer using the
Advanced Profiling System with validation. ______________________

A High Quality Art Work created on computer/workstation in vector based graphic software We have no objective way to settle if an artwork is High Quality. I choose to say that the judgment concerning my own works is mine. I am very well aware that this judgment is subjective. My subjective judgment is based on the response from others. See “The Complete Fine Art Works of World of Art Award Winning Artist Asbjorn Lonvig, Denmark,” which exhibits and describes every single artwork and “respond from others” (Critics and Testimonials). The artwork is created by means of IT. A computer with vector based graphic software like OpenOffice.org Draw, Paint Shop Pro 9; Paint Shop Pro Photo X3, Adobe Illustrator, MS Paint, MS Draw or others is used. Vector based so that every single details of a motif can be re-sized. For conversion to traditional painting style with visual strokes etc. and producing digital paintings the software Corel Painter Essential 4 and Corel Painting 11 is installed. The workstation is a Hewlett Packard Z200 workstation with a 21.5-inch Wide screen LCD Monitor.Graphic computingand resizing high amounts of pixels demands a workstation with considerable CPU power (Intel® Core™ i5-660 processor (3, 33 GHz, 4 MB cache, 1333 MHz memory or similar) and a large RAM (4 MB). The hard disk must be large in order to store pictures (0.3 TB – 1 TB is equal to 1000MB). For taking digital photos and for taking Full HD video for a new website and for a comprehensive You Tube presence a 18 Mb has been included in the concept. 2.

they are the oldest German paper-makers manufacturing

founding of the company more than 400 years ago, a

continuous growth and the innovative strength of the

international partners enables speedy transformation
of research results into new products. These are

Access to printer manufacturer’s

Vilhelm Imaging Research, Inc. for tests of
print quality and sustainability. Developing innovative, high-quality
hardware, ink and paper that produce
professional-quality, highly fade-resistant digital
print is a priority for Hewlett Packard and is an
important feature that differentiates the quality of
The Major Manufacturer’s digital printing systems from
those of most of its competitors. The Major Manufacturer ’s Image
Permanence Labs. Hewlett Packard has two
state-of-the-art image permanence labs in The Major Manufacturer ’s image
permanence testing equipment covers a wide range of
acceleration factors, and is temperature- and
humidity-controlled in order to replicate and predict
image permanence under conditions that are
representative of how customers actually store and
display prints. The Major Manufacturer’s image permanence
testing equipment is highly specialized and cannot be
readily duplicated without substantial investment. Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc. Although
there is no official industry standard yet for light
fade testing, Hewlett Packard follows the general
testing method developed and used by Wilhelm Imaging
Research, Inc. (WIR), As a best practice, The Major
Manufacturer regularly submits its inks and printers
to the WIR labs for light fade and dark storage
stability testing. When available, The Major
Manufacturer uses WIR results as its primary
substantiation for fade resistance claims on prints
produced with The Major Manufacturer photo systems.

5. The Hahnemühle Certificate of
Authenticity was designed to protect the security and
genuineness of your limited edition art works and
reproductions on Hahnemühle paper and to reduce
the risk of forgery. Each certificate is made of
premium deckle edged mould made paper with a
Hahnemühle watermark and fluorescent security
fibers.
6. Each certificate is – as mentioned above -
made of premium deckle edged moulder made paper with a
Hahnemühle watermark and fluorescent security
fibers. A serialized numbered hologram is added to the
certificate. A second, identically numbered hologram
is then applied to the reverse side of the artwork.
The combination of certificate and hologram assures
that each Certificate of Authenticity relates to one
particular piece of art. Text and layout of the
certificate can be created individually.
7. The Major Manufacturer’s 12-ink printing
system, using Vivera pigment inks, features new 73 Chromatic
Red ink. The Major Manufacturer’s Designjet produces
high-quality prints with smooth transitions and true
neutral grays using the Quad-Black Ink set for a wide
range of creative applications. In addition, the Gloss
Enhancer achieves superior gloss uniformity and
minimizes bronzing on most glossy photo papers. Ideal
for photo and fine art print service providers,
graphic designers, and commercial printers, the
Designjet Photo Printer achieves print permanence of
more than 200 years.
8. Several Major Manufacturers have been
considered. A few were excluded
because of lack of sustainability. The Major
Manufacturer has been chosen from a overall business
point of view only – not a technically point of view.
A major manufacturer was selected. As a Software
Engineer by IBM I have made this kind of decisions
before - very well knowing, that another manufacturer
might have specific products that at the moment might
be technically better. In a time span of 5 years, my
decision always proved to be right. In this case, I
just had to prove to myself that The Major
Manufacturer meets
all my demands. The printer in question is a Designjet
from the Major Manufacturer. There are not a lot of
these Designjets in
the commercial market. When it comes to printing
speed, use of ink etc. it’s not a winner. You might
say it is too expensive. When it comes to my demands
as an artist, it is simply the best. 9.

*) For long
time I had the theory, that every single of my
artworks contained an inherent amount of inspiration
on the basis of which you could compose music. This
theory was confirmed by organist, pianist, and
composer Carsten Thomsen. I simply
placed a couple of artworks on the music stand of a
piano. His perception of the inherent amount of
inspiration r made him play the tune, which I had in
mind.

Collecting Digital art has
become trendy. I can use IT in the entire art process -
including fine art print with high quality and high
sustainability - even in my own art studio...the last
adjustments to my studio configuration has closed a
ring of developments that began 10 years ago. YES, sure I’m a lucky devil...Nothing
Less. I am even a lucky bastard. My friend Carsten Thomsen is a lucky
bastard, too. Carsten Thomsen and I have worked with
the synergy effects of music and visual art in art
events. Carsten Thomsen has a master degree from I can best compare my feelings after
having installed the Technical Prerequisites with the
feelings of a pianist achieving to buy his first
Steinway & Sons Grand Piano and install it in his
music room. Some years ago, Carsten Thomsen bought
his first Steinway & Sons Piano. He was just
happy. He even felt he had never played that well.
Likewise, I feel that I have never created fine art
that well. My pianist friend said that he could not in
decency play badly on his Steinway & Sons.
Likewise, I feel that I cannot in decency create
anything less than the best using “My new Steinway
& Sons”. Steinway & Sons is probably one of
the greatest brands on Earth. The finest that you can get. A Steinway & Sons Piano Grande is the
finest that you can get. “My new Steinway & Sons”
gives me the opportunity to make the best art works
possible. Sincerely, Asbjorn Lonvig, artist 43 Fejringhusvej 8722 Hedensted

As mentioned I have
selected the 325+ best of my motifs and put them for
sale as: One signed inks on canvas and 210 numbered
and signed fine art prints of each motif. I use IT in every possible aspect of the
art. I love the delicate combination of new and old. I
combine the IT based art with fine art paper from the
eldest German papermaker Hahnemühle founded in
1584 in Dassel/Relliehausen in Niedersachsen. A
delicate combination like the contemporary
architecture of the Louvre Pyramid and the 16th

Michael Jason Manhattan Arts International New York US Dear Asbjorn Lonvig,
The Staff at ARTROM
Gallery has met to view your images.
We have
also
visited your websites and entered immediately
into your world.
We are
impressed with your ability to simplify a concept into
an image and concentrate it,
In viewing your
works we discussed not only their graphic content, but
discussed them as paintings, as objects unto
themselves. Knowing that the images exist
somewhere as objects of that dimension is far different
than looking at images stored in some computer,
regardless of how they were created. One can
appreciate the graphic illustrative/informative quality
of an image on a computer screen, but it stops there,
until you know more about the image as it exists in
"real life", to incude only what is necessary. In evaluating your work for its strong graphic content, we became aware of the size of the originals; they are all quite large and are acrylic on canvas. and this adds another dimension to the work. It also adds credibility to the commitment the artist has made to the image. We feel that you believe in your commitment as an artist. This is one of the aspects we look for in our GUILD Members. When one believes in himself the message is clear. We are also interested in your "Manifesto" below. "It's about
the fact that the art market is predicted to grow 3,5
times because of the Internet.
It's about my decision to stake everything on the internet. It's about concentrating my efforts on the internet when it comes to sales. It's about my decision to make new standards and challenge art traditions by making my drafts on a computer and exhibit the drafts. And insist upon that a computer is nothing but a new tool. And insist upon that using a computer is as worthy as not doing it!!! Worthier????" We would like to help
you accomplish these things, and welcome you to
become a member.
