Reading out loud my fairy tales - signing "9 Bernhards" posters - showing www.LONVIG-by-MINYMO.com

Super...

 LONVIG by MINYMO
New kids' clothing brand LONVIG by MINYMO - Autumn 2008 Collection

In Aarhus, Denmark at Café Slabberas on 6 September 2008.

Today my destination was Aarhus. At Café Slabberas, 26 Frederiksgade in Aarhus at 10 a.m.

It was early in the morning.

I was preparing myself for the event.

My wife rushed into the gallery where I was - she had heard some "voices".

Calm down, calm down - it is nothing but me practicing - reading out loud the fairy tale "Lucca and Sam in the Zoo...".

After a couple of rehearsals I was confident.

At Café Slabberas I was welcomed by beautiful ladies.

A computer with fast internet was ready.

Everything was ready.

Depending on what happened, I had 3 possibilities.

Reading out loud, signing the mini poster "9 Bernhards" and showing www.LONVIG-by-MINYMO.com on the internet.

Signing of mini poster "9 Bernhards" was a hit. This was what I spent most of the time doing this 6 September 2008 in Aarhus.

I contacted the parents, wrote the name of their child down at the left and signed down to the right.

This was the perfect way to enter a conversation, and when I told that the new kids' clothing brand LONVIG by MINYMO was based on my fairy tales and fairy tale character - a very positive contact was established. And I probably talked, and talked, and talked...

For a start the computer was used - but it was not necessary to pass the message.

I talked to a Chinese, I talked to a German, I talked to one from Greenland and one from my home city Hedensted. I talked to one from Frederikshavn and a lot from Aarhus. Among the people from Aarhus there was one from a kindergarten.

I asked all of them to take a closer look at the wonderful kids' clothing in the LONVIG by MINYMO line.

I asked them to go home and read out loud my fairy tales on the web site.

I asked them to take a closer look at the web site with its book shop, shoe shop, poster shops, clock shop, fairy tale theatre, jigsaw puzzle games etc.

For a star I talked to people entering the second floor.

Later I went down into the outdoor Café Slabberas to ensure that all visitors got a poster for their children.

I talked to a granddad - he was an IT nerd - I showed the fairy tale theatre to him. This granddad had 3 grand kids and there is no doubt that he soon has built fairy tale theatres for them.

A young lady, she was called Karin, she owned a poster store at Sct. Clemens Torv not far away. She loved Bernhard. I have sent an e-mail to her and we will see what happens.

Only one "9 Bernhards" mini poster was left at closing time. At 4 p.m.

The last poster was dedicated Tristan and his parents. But they did not show up.

I'll see to that Tristan gets his poster.

I had talked to people since 10 a.m. - interrupted only by a wonderful brunch, which Café Slabberas served.

And then an unknown number of espressos and café americanos during the day.

I was tired but very happy, that my message was passed so very easily.

When you do such things - and especially if you are a little aggressive - you might have a negative response from some.

Not one responded negatively - everybody was happy and thanked me for doing it...

Super!

Sincerely,

Asbjorn Lonvig

Whimsical Sleep-Sheep
LONVIG by MINYMO´s Spring 2009 Collection

LONVIG by MINYMO´s Autumn 2008
Collection was based on Asbjorn Lonvig's story "At the ZOO with Sam and Lucca”, and the monkey Bernhard was the general character.

LONVIG by MINYMO´s Spring 2009 Collection is based on Asbjorn Lonvig's story “The Baby Carriage and Sleep-Sheep”, and Sleep-Sheep is the general character.

This is how Sleep-Sheep got his spring colors:

Sleep-Sheep’s dream.
Sleep-Sheep loves Rome.
You know, Rome in Italy.
One day he wanted to see the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Stairs, and the National Museum of Rome.
After having seen the Coliseum, of course he had a nap.
After having seen the Trevi Fountain, of course, he had a nap.
After having seen the Spanish Stairs, of course, he had a nap.
Then he went to the National Museum of Rome - in Italian it has the very long name Museo Nazionale Romano Palazzo Massimo Alle Terme.
It had Roman coins, busts of Roman Emperors, and lots of large sculptures of Roman Gods and Goddesses.
After having seen Roman coins, Sleep-Sheep had a nap of course.
After having seen busts of Roman Emperors, of course, Sleep-Sheep had a nap.
After having seen large sculptures of Roman Gods and Goddesses, of course, Sleep-Sheep had a nap.
Last of all, Sleep-Sheep saw the beautiful mosaics from Roman houses.
Sleep-Sheep was wide awake.
He stared at the mosaic from Casale di San Basilio at Via Nomentana in Rome, which was 2000 years old.
Sleep-Sheep just loved it.
For a long time he just looked at the gorgeous colors.

(Click on image and download a larger image)

Of course he fell asleep.

He was fast asleep.
And he dreamt.
A wonderful dream it was.
He dreamt he had become ecological.
He dreamt he was the same colors as the mosaic from Casale di San Basilio.
He dreamt he had become spring-turquoise.
He dreamt he had become spring-beige.
He dreamt he had become spring-yellow.
He dreamt he had become spring-brown.
A wonderful dream.
If you go to the National Museum of Rome you can see Sleep-Sheep still standing there dreaming his wonderful dream.

No Culture gabs among Children…...

Storytelling and fairy tales are well-known concepts, but storytelling and fairy tales as basis for a new ecological brand of children’s wear is new. LONVIG by MINYMO is based on the multi-artist Asbjorn Lonvig’s colorful fairy tales and their whimsical and funny characters.

Today the fairy tales are translated into 15 languages – Danish, Swedish, Finnish, English, Italian, German, Dutch, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Persian, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese and the fairy tales are available for everyone on LONVIG by MINYMO’s web site, www.lonvig-by-minymo.com, here all the children can get their own book or coloring book for free.

“Right now a Palestinian boy is reading in Arabic the very same fairy tale as an Israeli girl is reading in Hebrew. A lovely thought that there is no culture gab among children”, says Asbjorn Lonvig and goes on, “It is our wish that the children’s wear from LONVIG by MINYMO in time will become a contributing factor to mutual understanding between the cultures.

Asbjorn Lonvig´s overall purpose with his fairy tales is to tell short curious stories with common validity. Stories, which can be read by children all over the world and Asbjorn Lonvig illustrates his fairy tales by himself. “The illustrations are as important as the actual fairy tale, because the curiosity of the characters has the intention to create hope and joy of life”, says Asbjorn Lonvig and goes on “It is natural for LONVIG by MINYMO to be UNICEF partner and thereby support the work of UNICEF. 2% of the profit is donated to UNICEF.

LONVIG by MINYMO´s collection for autumn 2008 is based on the story “At the ZOO with Sam and Lucca”, where the monkey Bernhard is the general character in the collection. (Bernhard has eaten a funky banana and has become ecological and has got funky colors…..) A story that praises human difference and the multiplicity of nature.

Asbjorn Lonvig (1949), who received the prestigious “World of Art Award” in London in year 2006, is a multi-artist who makes big paintings, posters, sculptures and writes stories. He works with colorful simplicity also when he writes.

LONVIG by MINYMO´s collection is 100 % ecological and made of ecological cotton which in the process is Eco-Tex certified.
