Easter Island is an island  in South Pacific,
3700 kilometers west of Chile.
It is well known because of the huge statues
called Moais.
There are 600 Moais on Easter Island,
which has its name from its discovery.
The Dutchman and admiral Jacob Roggeveen
discovered the island in Easter 1722.
Originally the island was populated by Polynesians but
an epidemic decease and a Peruvian slave trader
nearly extinguished the population in 1862-63.
As Christian missionaries disturbed the
native culture further, the island
was annexed by Chile in 1888 and the
island was then populated by Spanish speaking people from the main land.
The Moais are built from volcanic material called tuff one
thousand years ago.
Nobody has ever solved the mystery about these huge statues
of which some are 20 meters high and weigh 50 tons.

"interplay"
inspired from goals and values, Easter Island, a talk by the riverside on 14th January 2003
and from wondering

In this context the Moais symbolize
interplay.
An interplay means more job satisfaction.
It enhance involvement and commitment.
Through dialogue managers, employees, customers etc.
become better troubleshooters concerning those problems,
that always will arise in an interplay.

"decency"
inspired from keeping balance, simplicity in life, fragile stability and from wondering

Decency and honesty is important when people work together.
You have to know that if we agree to something
it will be done.
If there are any changes in what we have agreed
we have to talk about it,
even if it can be difficult.
Whatever we have committed ourselves to,
will be achieved.
We are responsible.
Our work will be done in the same way every time.
Achieving the highest possible standards.
Achieving the highest possible quality.

"foresight"
inspired from being purposeful, from solicitude, an old shipping man, the human eye
and from wondering

 It is hard to foretell.
However we are not supposed to foretell.
We have to find all the elements, all the facts
that can tell us how the future probably will be.
We have to keep a sharp lookout all the time.
We have to find out our goals and be purposeful.
Then we know which way to go.
Off into the future.

We must achieve our goals.
If there is something wrong about our goals, if they are not realistic,
we will have them adjusted.

Solicitude.

"challenge"
inspired from optimizing solutions, being full of enterprise, being innovative, from old time dueling, Alexander Dumas and from wondering

You always must challenge things,
optimize solutions,
be full of enterprise.
The most important is to be innovative.

"yield a profit"
inspired from a wish to let a red curve symbolize blue digits
and from wondering

To keep a business going it is necessary to earn some money.
Then we can still strengthen our knowledge
and become less sensitive towards declining markets.
Our customers must be as satisfied as we are.
We must price our products reasonably, and sell reasonably,
so that we yield a profit.
